Teacher-Training Courses:

 

Communication Skills A

 

This year, schools that have opened the major with a single teacher will be given the opportunity to have other teachers at their school trained. There will also be a limited opportunity for other schools to join the program this year.

 

Interested schools should be prepared to open the major the following year. Optimally, the staff of the new elective should consist of an English Teacher and another English Speaking teacher who has a strong background in or teaches a subject in the humanities or social sciences. Please register the teachers We recommend building a staff of 2-3 teachers for the major.

This 60 hour face-to-face course will expose teachers to the subject areas studied in the first and second year of Communication Skills, the primary course in Diplomacy and International Communication in English. Teachers will encounter innovative teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking and experiential teaching methods like Problem-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning. They will apply the innovative teaching strategies by designing units of study for 10th grade students. 

 

Course Aims
1. Qualifying teachers in the content and methodology used in the primary course in the new elective Diplomacy and International Communication in English.
2. Promoting meaningful learning of information literacy, communication literacy, multi-cultural literacy, and creative and critical literacy. 
3. Designing curriculum, and adapting units to fit the program aims and school needs.

Session 8.    Applying Thinking Processes, Scientific Thinking in Research and Reasoning about Controversial                 Issues
Session 9.    Applying Thinking Processes, Creative thinking and Problem Solving through International                         Relations Simulations
Session 10.    Applying Thinking Processes to Future thinking
Session 11.    Principles and Components of Curriculum Design
Session 12.    Designing an Interdisciplinary Unit

Teacher-Training in Translation Skills

This year we offer the full teacher-training translation course for teachers new to translation

only at Bar Ilan (for details - http://www.pmbiu.co.il/site/detail/detail/detailDetail.asp?detail_id=806087). That course will be taught by Gabi Rebed and will begin on Sunday, Oct 25th. Teachers can still register.
